Watch. Just Watch.
Well, the title pretty much gives it away. Life, everything, It's all up for criticism and commentary by me. A rather narcissistic point of view, but, hey, this is my blog.

New Blog
Hello, Wizard here again. It seems that me and some freinds from school have gone and started up a blog, and since I have this one as well, I can shamelessly plug it here. It's called Frequency Infinite. Check it out!

I'm Going to Dysneyland!
this seems to be a big deal for most people. Not for me. I used to live next to dysneyland, so no biggie. However, it will be nice to see the old neighborhood, and as a bonus I get to stay on the Queen Mary
So, I get to leave all this snow and rain behind. Bye bye, suckers!

New Browsers
The Wizard is back, this time with some interesting news. About a week ago, I found out that when hackers hack, they write the code for the virus based off of whatever browser you use.
The followup to this is that if you use a lesser - used browser like google chrome then you are safer from the hoards of faceless hackers pounding at the walls of your personal space.
The whole point of this meandering pile of words is that I am now using Opera. What is this Opera, you ask? Look at the link, dumass.
But then, as I trawled through gigabytes of data at great personal risk, I found another cool obscure browser.
This one was called iRider
I apologise for the link, but Wikipedia has almost no information on this browser.
Aparantly, this was created back in the days before chrome and firefox got all innovative-y on us and "revolutionized" web browsing.
It did a lot of the stuff chrome does 10 years before chrome was even invented.
Cool beans, I say.

Back Again For No Reason
The Wizard here, back again for no reason as the title says. No interesting links, pictures, or videos. Rather boring, but I needed to write something.
It seems that with the invention of the touchscreen, the computer industry should have been revolutionized. But now, as we move into 2011, the company that makes most of the touchscreen devices in production is Apple. Now, I am almost an Apple fanboy, so I'm not ragging on them. But all this other stuff like the Android seems less on par with the iOS devices.
I know, I know, all the people who own an Android and love it dissagree with me. But iOS has a much cleaner and simple OS, much better for a touchscreen device.
Android & Co. have made the mistake of applying the Windows philosphy to a touchscreen device. In other words, MENUS!!! Everything with a menu, and everything in it's place. That just does not work. GET IT TOGETHER

Battlestar Galactica Online
Hello all you out there on the internet, this is The Wizard again. Not that there would be anyone else here, but I just like saying that.
Recently, the developers over at Bigpoint Games have seen fit to release BSGO (Battlestar Galactica Online) into open beta, free for all to use.
The game (which I have been using for about 2 days) has amazing 3D graphics. They blew my mind the first time I played.
What? do you want to see? Here it is:
Now, there are compromises for having graphics like this. It takes literally almost an hour to load for the first time, but after some data is stored in your cache it loads fairly quickly. But if you even just have medium speed DSL, kiss gameplay goodbye. Your ship becomes as unresponsive and jerky as a pro wrestler with a hangover.
All in all, a good representation of the BSG universe. 3.75 stars out of 5.

SBY update
For any of my more devoted SBY fans, I have found a good preview for the new SBY movie. Here it is. Enjoy!
[N.B: This is akll in japanese. I think that is one of the reasons it has not been marketed in the U.S. I hope that I could get it with subtitles or something.

Space Battleship Yamato
I have now been informed of an epic T.V series Called "Space Battleship Yamato." Not only because it is a pretty cool show, but also because the ship looks so cool.
The idea is that an alien capsule fell to Earth with the secret to Faster than Light travel in it. The Earth is under attack by a species not unlike the Borg, and humanity needs a way out.
[I don't own any of these pictures, they belong their respective owners, ect.]
The oceans have dried up, so the Japanese government builds a starship with the infrastructure of the sunken battleship Yamato from WWII.
When you're finished here, check out the rest of my blog! Life, the universe and everything else

J.A.R.V.I.S
If you are a geek like me, and you saw the Iron Man movies, you probably weirded out when you saw Tony Stark's Mainframe. An A.I like that is every nerd's dream, not to mention the interface.
Now you're all thinking "Wow, They'll never invent something like that in my lifetime."
BUT WAIT!! An innovative gent named Chad Barraford has made what is essentaly a J.A.R.V.I.S system in his own house!
Now, there aren't any holographic displays, but this system can tell when Chad is home, when he isn't, and what's going on with his Netflix qeue.
Junk food for thought...

Eddie Izzard, and The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny
A little bit of Internet video recommendations for all you thousands of my followers:
As mentioned in the title, I have two videos that have just recently caught on among my circle of friends, even if they are a little old.
Death Star canteen
One is Eddie Izzard's "Death Star canteen" sketch. he's a wierd guy , but it is most humorous, but has some rather strong profanity in it, so don't go showing it to your 3 year old cousin.
The other is a song called "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny." All about superheros and such. Good Stuff.
Both are on YouTube, just search their titles and various versions will pop up.
Happy watching!

Star Trek 2009
Let's just start off right away. Star Trek 2009 was ****. To quote Bart Simpson, "I didn't know this was physically possible, but this sucks and blows at the same time."
And indeed, ST2K9 sucks and blows. It relies on the tired old excuse that this is "an alternate timeline. Unfortunately, this isn't true for the first parts of the story.
For a detailed description of all the holes and discrepancies in the plot, see Star Trek By The Minute, very well written by a gent named BurntSynapse.
In conclusion, I would like to say that I am glad that Gene Roddenberry is in space, where he can't hear about this movie. But according to the physics of this movie, he probably could.

New years
As I write this, it grows closer to new years. Just about 48 minutes left untill 2011.
Have you ever seen those old T.V shows about the future? They all are set in 2003, and they all have flying cars & robots.
And what do we have with us here in 2011?
We have ipods.
Now, I'm a geek, and I love my ipod, but it is far from a personal robot or jet pack.
So what do I predict for 2011?
I think that we won't have any major breakthroughs in our technology. However, I do think that our solar panels will become much more efficient. Definitely not in the coming year, but sometime in the near future.
Well, enough prophesying (profesizing, professorzising, whatever)
I hope that our technology can and will surpass my expectations and everyone elses.
And after those magnificent and sappy words of inspiration, I will go back to watching star trek.
HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!!
FWEEEEE!...POP POP POP and so on and so forth.

Rendleshelm: England's Roswell
The Wizard is here, and he found a rather interesting set of UFO sightings. It has been described as one of the best documented sightings in history.
It all happened in Rendelshelm forest in England, near a RAF base in use by the U.S. air force. Multiple sightings were recorded, and a landing site was surveyed by Lt. Col. Charles I. Halt.
During this survey, he made a tape that documented his teams progress. This became known as the "Halt Tape"
Whats that? You want to hear it? Well, The Wizard shall provide you with the Halt Tape.
If you want more information on Redleshelm, here is the Wikipedia page and Ian Ridpath's articles on the incidents.

Posting and such
Haven't posted in like 40 years, so it is'nt really a blog, just a kind of journal for me to ramble on in.
Although I suppose that is a kind os a blog.
Either some dudes from Indonesia or some such intersting sounding place looked at my humble blog, or my little stat thing is screwing with me.
Possibly a greivous error in their search engines, and perhaps I may be of service, as I am a bona fide computer geek. (bona fide means good faith in Latin)
Today was the beginning of Christmas break, and was a minimum day, so I only had hour long classes. We mostly had partys and such.
My school has a film program, where we make our own movies and have a film fest and everything. We've already covered animation and silent films.
But today we just watched movies.
I watched Hellboy with some of my freinds.
If you are listening Indonesian guys, that is a good movie.

The Matrix
In my opinion, some of the best movies ever. Ok, the second and third ones were a little (read very) weak, but you gotta admire the determination of the Watchowski bros.
My brother also agrees with me on this subject, but that is not a good sign. Any movie that he likes is invariably one of the worst you will ever have seen.
He is in love with this piece of crap called naruto that he says is the most watched tv show in america. I say this is BS, because it is in Japanese, and no self-respecting american would watch something that they had to read at the same time.
But I digress.
I mostly watch things that would make it into any film festival, and the only reason I watch anything juvenile like spongebob or dora would be because my brother wanted to watch it.
That seem like a pretty lame excuse, but it is true.
To reiterate my earlier statement, the Matrices (Matrixes? Matri? who knows.) are really good movies. Watch them if you have'nt.

Thanksgiving
The Wizard is back after a breif stint without the 'net through the kindness of my aunt and her wifi router. I was contemplating a thanksgiving without my tech, but I am connected once more, thank the gods of tech.
Ate so much turkey, I had to sit and vegetate with a smithsonian magazine to digest all my food.
feeling better now, though.
Signing off very relived,
The Wizard.

Got a Tablet!
The Wizard has a new toy! The Wacom Bamboo CTH-460 Pen Tablet
Pen Tablet
It is a wonderful art tool that I really like, and plan to use for many things, especially for taking notes on math.
And it's really cool.

You might as well know by now.
To paraphraise the title, you might as well know by now that I am a trekkie. When I make an obscure reference, it is probably from Star trek.
If you are not a trekkie already, and see no appeal in being one, I strongly suggest you check out one of my favorite sites.
Lcarscom.net
(you might want to check it out anyway, it's really cool)
If you are a trekkie, you obviously get better computer systems than other scifi fans and everybody else
(no offense if you like your computers, but these are really cool)

Cheese.
The principles of comedy are somewhat like quantum mechanics.
Lots of dead cats and cheese.
Did I mention that cheese is my favorite thing to mention?
I knew I mentioned it somewhere.
Somewhere, anywhere, who is there, got some hair, down the stair, unaware, yogi bear, do you care, and cheese.
(see, I told you so)
You must realize the comic value of a random factor. Here is one, for your clicking pleasure.
Random Factor
When you do realize it's value ($14.95 plus shipping and handling) you can really use it to it's fullest extent. For example:
Thanks for watching. Find out on Tuesday!
